Goose Pond set for July 4 celebration

Published June 26, 2009

Goose Pond Colony is switching things up a bit this year for its fourth of July celebrations, according to General Manager Lyle Sosebee.

A total of six acts will each play 30 minute sets for the Fourth of July Jam at the Goose Pond Amphitheater, instead of the usual one act, Sosebee said.

The Roys will be headlining the event supported by Dana Lane, Kim McLean, Jane Nelsen, Leon Venerable, and the Chris Shepard Band.

The concert will begin at six p.m.

All the acts have Nashville recording contracts and can currently be heard on K-98 (FM 98.3) in Scottsboro, according to Sosebee.

In another switch-up from last year, K-98 will be broadcasting music meant to coincide with the fireworks show which is set to begin at 9 p.m.

Sosebee said the fireworks show this year will be even better than last year’s.

After the fireworks are over, the concert will pick back up for those interested in staying while waiting for the traffic to clear, Sosebee said.
