Retailer to open Friday

Burkes Outlet will open its doors to customers Friday, according to store manager Shelly Allen and district manager Shane Lozier.
Both were at the store, located in the former Goody’s location near WalMart, Monday as workers put the final touches on the new business in Scottsboro.
“We’ve been working 12-hour shifts since last Monday,” said Allen, who previously worked at a smaller store in Huntsville.
The new store will include a large selection of ladies, men's and children's apparel, handbags and accessories, a family footwear department and an expanded home selection which includes domestics.
"We have from the young to the older crowd," said Allen, who will oversee a staff of 22 employees.
She added the doors will open at 9 a.m. Friday, with a special of 15 percent off for anyone 49 years old or younger.
"We are excited to be here," Allen said. "We've already had a lot of people coming by to see when we open."
Lozier said a grand opening celebration will kick off Friday, March 19. Promotions will include a $5 gift card giveaway to the first 300 shoppers each day on Friday and Saturday, a drawing for a $100 shopping spree and a weekend coupon.
Burkes Outlet stores, LLC is a subsidiary of Bealls Outlet Stores, Inc., which is a family and employee owned corporation of Bradenton, Fla.
Burkes Outlet stores operates more than 444 stores in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Nevada, California and New Mexico.
The Outlet prices its merchandise up to 75 percent off other store prices with its everyday low price philosophy. Other store programs include the Monday Club, a shopping program that entitles customers aged 50 and over to a 15 percent discount off all purchases every Monday.
