The Scottsboro girls cross country team captured its ninth straight Class 5A state championship on Saturday.

Scottsboro edged St. Paul's by eight points for the crown during the AHSAA state meet at Oakville Indian Mounds State Park near Moulton.

The SHS boys team recorded a state runner-up finish, placing second behind Mobile-area school Spanish Fort.

Scottsboro junior Lucas Sieb however did repeat as the boys individual 5A state champion.

In the Class 1A-2A girls race, Section finished fifth while Pisgah was sixth in the Class 3A girls race.
