Allie Marie Hancock Mitchell
Allie Marie Hancock Mitchell, 88, of Scottsboro, went peacefully to be with her Lord, on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at her home after a long illness.
Ms Mitchell, a business woman, owned and operated the Credit Bureau and Collection Agency of Scottsboro and Jackson County for many years. She was a longtime member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Jackson County Historical Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lee Hancock and Mary Stuart Shook Hancock of the Goosepond Community; daughter, Pamela Mitchell; sisters, Billie Burns Hancock, Norma Jane Hancock and Birda Ann Hancock Brakefield; brother-in-law, Geroge Brakefield; and brothers, Jimmy Lee Hancock and Jack Richard Hancock.
Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and Scott Harper of Scottsboro; grandchildren, Holly Kay and Carlos Alberti of Trinity and Timothy Scott and Lauren Harper of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Storm, Savannah, Scout, Carlos and wife Mallory Alberti, Katherine and Samuel Harper; great-great-granddaughter, Adily Alberti; sisters-in-law, Ann Hancock of Huntsville and Betty Faye Hancock of Scottsboro; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her special friends and caregivers, Louise Tolliver, Jimmi Hutchenson and the staff of Alacare Home Health and Hospice.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 16, from Rudder Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsboro with Dr. Roy Hall officiating. Burial follow in Goosepond Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Susan Koman for the Cure, P.O. Box 65039, Dallas, TX 75265; Scottsboro Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 315 S. Kyle; or Goosepond Cemetery Fund, c/o Fred Hancock, 1015 Garden Drive.
