Scottsboro teams sweep New Hope

Scottsboro seventh-grade girls basketball team got a little revenge on Thursday.
The Wildcats avenged their opening night loss to move to 3-4 on the season with a 22-16 win at New Hope.
Behind 12-4 early in the third quarter, the Wildcats went on an 18-2 run fueled by the passing of Kelly Campbell and hot shooting from Mary Margaret Green, Sara Lovelady and Ellie Phillips. Campbell finished with five assists. Lovelady was the leading scorer with eight points, followed by Phillips, Green and Campbell with four each.
•Seventh-Grade Boys Scottsboro 53, New Hope 5 — The Wildcats coasted to their fourth straight win as all 12 players scored, led by Tavaras Tolliver with 12.
Joe Wood and Kortez Sanford each scored eight points while Jake Wright added seven. Khael Sanford and Kelsey Stevens each dished out four assists, and Donye Richardson led the team on the glass with seven rebounds. Scottsboro shot a blistering 51 percent for the game as the moved its record to 6-2.
• Eighth-grade girls Scottsboro 44, New Hope 15 — The host Indians were no match for the balanced Wildcats, who pulled away in the second quarter as they raised their record to 3-5.
Aquanita Branford led the team with 13 points and three assists, but received ample support from Anna Childress (10 points), McKenzie Edmondson (six), Bridget Carter (five), and Hayleigh Lewis (four) and Emily McCormack (four). Childress and Kathryn Craft each handed out two assists.
•Eighth-grade boys Scottsboro 30, New Hope 16 — Scottsboro jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first quarter behind hot shooting from John Gann, who finished with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Trey Lewis added 11 rebounds, while Lewis, Matthew Pace and John Pouparina each had two assists.

•Junior High girls Woodville 42, Skyline 20 — At Woodville, Tristin Loudermilk scored 19 points as Woodville defeated rival Skyline.
Kelsie Sisk added eight points for the Panthers, who also got seven points from Tiffany Isbell. Kelsey Ivey led Skyline with nine points.
NSM 43, Section 32 — At Higdon, Section led 11-7 after one quarter and 17-16 at halftime but NSM pulled in front 27-22 after three quarters.
Micayla Bain led NSM with 16 points, while Hannah Vest had 11 and Cassidy Romans nine. Jordan McCarver scored 13 points and Taylor McCarver added nine for Section.
Pisgah 37, Woodville 29 — At Pisgah, Megan Smith scored 10 points and Courtney Lacy added nine for Pisgah in the win.
Tristin Loudermilk had 11 points and Krysta McGinnis added six for Woodville.
NSM 39, Fyffe 14 — At Higdon, NSM outscored Fyffe 14-0 in the third quarter to pull away for the win.
The Bison led 5-0, 13-5 and 27-5 at the quarter breaks.
Hannah Vest scored 16 points to lead NSM, which also got 10 from Cassidy Romans.
