Scottsboro teams swept at Arab

It was a miserable night for the Scottsboro Junior High School Wildcats Thursday in Arab, as all four teams fell to the host Knights.

In the seventh-grade girls game, Scottsboro fell behind quickly as Arab raced out to a 17-5 first quarter lead and cruised to 45-19 victory.  The Wildcats were led in scoring by Sara Lovelady with six points, followed by Mary Margaret Green with four. Ashlynn Green, Kelly Campbell, Chanice Carter, Alexis Heaton and Ellie Phillips also tallied points.

Arab 48  Scottsboro 19 — Arab shot out to an 18-5 lead after one quarter and coasted to an easy win in the eighth-grade girls game, although the Wildcats were much more competitive in the second half. 

Makenzie Edmondson scored nine points for the Wildcats.  Aquanita Branford (eight points) and Emily Albin (two) also scored.

Junior High Boys
Arab 32, Scottsboro 17 — An 11-point fourth quarter allowed Arab to pull away to the victory in the seventh-grade boys game.

Khael Sanford paced the Wildcats' scoring with six points. Kortez Sanford and Donye Richardson snagged 10 and nine rebounds respectively. Spencer Garner added three steals.

Arab 41  Scottsboro 21 — Falling behind 23-5 after one quarter proved to be too big of a hole for the Scottsboro eighth-grade boys to dig out from. Scottsboro was led in scoring by John Pouparinis with seven, followed by Harrison Michaels with five.  Trey Lewis added seven rebounds.

Junior High Girls
Woodville 40, Huntland (Tenn.) 23 — At Woodville, the Panthers cruised past their out-of-state visitors Thursday to improve to 2-1.

Bayle Webb had 16 points, five assists and three steals for Woodville, which also got six points and three steals from Tiffany Isbell and six points and two steals from Krysta McGinnis. Nancy Schwartz led Huntland with 16 points.

Section 41, Macedonia 14 — At Macedonia, all seven players scored as the Section Lions (2-1) earned a victory over neighboring Macedonia on Thursday.

Jordan McCarver led the Lions with 15 points while Autum Clark added 11. Nikki McCrary paced Macedonia with seven points.
