‘I Do’ Brazilian style
Published May 18, 2009
When Roberto DeSa and Adriana Bamback decided to marry, they chose an unusual location – Vintage Vows Wedding Chapel in Hollywood, Ala.
While this might not seem so unusual to most people here in Jackson County, it is a very unique considering the couple lives in Brazil.
Roberto attended college in Georgia and travelled throughout the southeast. He fell in love with the people and scenery of Alabama.
"I said some day when I get married, I want to marry in Alabama," Roberto said.
The couple also wanted to be married in a chapel, so Vintage Vows fit their needs perfectly.
Adriana found Vintage Vows' website and instantly fell in love with photos of the chapel's 200-year-old stained glass windows from Wales.
Roberto corresponded with Vintage Vows owner Sue Lee by email, arranging for the ceremony.
Lee said Vintage Vows has many weddings from Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee and has had some from other states, but this was an unusual occasion to have a couple from another country come to the chapel to be married.
On Monday, May 11, Rev. Don Cooper performed the double ring ceremony, joining Roberto and Adriana in holy matrimony.
"We both like different things," Roberto said. "This is a different and special day for us."
Before returning to Brazil, the couple visited Memphis, Tenn. on a honeymoon trip. Both are huge fans of Elvis Presley and wanted to see Graceland and all of the Memphis landmarks.
