Bridgeport man faces theft count

Published October 3, 2009

A man who allegedly rode off on a four-wheeler that didn’t belong to him is now in the Jackson County Jail.

Joseph Robert Graham, 34, of Bridgeport, was arrested Thursday and charged with Theft First Degree after being accused of stealing a 2005 Honda four-wheeler from a residence on Highway 117 in Flat Rock earlier in the day.

“The victim observed the suspect take the four-wheeler from her yard,” Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said.

Phillips said the suspect rode the four-wheeler into the woods as the victim followed behind.

“He jumped off of it in the woods and ran,” Phillips said.

Later, deputy Scott Flanagan got a description of the suspect from the victim.

“He (Flanagan) received information of the suspect’s location,” Phillips said.

Flanagan arrested Graham at a church on County Road 14, near County Road 81 in the Fabius community.

Graham remained in jail Friday awaiting bond.
