The bodies of three missing men involved in a boating accident at the Nickajack Dam in Marion County, Tenn. on Nov. 21 have been located, including one in Scottsboro.
Jackson County Coroner John David Jordan said the body of Trancito Garcia, 32, of Dalton, Ga. was found Sunday morning a quarter mile north of the Bob Jones and B.B. Comer bridges, approximately 38 miles from the dam.
“There were some guys checking muskrat traps near the bank when they located the body,” Jordan said.
The Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad, Scottsboro Police Department and Alabama Marine Police assisted in the recovery of the body.
“They all did a great job,” Jordan said.
The other two men still missing were also located over the weekend near the dam.
A group of five people from Dalton, Ga. were fishing under the dam on Nov. 21 when their boat was pulled into a flood gate. Two brothers were rescued.
The Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad, along with the Brideport Fire Department, assisted in the initial search for the missing men.
