Confrontation leads to arrest

Published October 9, 2009

A Rainsville man is in the Jackson County Jail after an alleged confrontation, which included violating a protection order, with his estranged wife in Flat Rock Wednesday.

Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said the couple are married, but apparently have been separated for awhile.

James Aubrey Brown, 61, of Rainsville, allegedly broke into his wife’s home on County Road 81 in Flat Rock and held her at knife point.

Brown left the residence at some point and was later arrested at Caperton Chapel Church on County Road 14 in the Fabius community.

Brown has been charged with Burglary First Degree, Kidnapping First Degree and Violation of Protection Order.

He remained in jail Thursday on a 35,500 bond and temporary holding order due to violating the protection order.
