Deputies find meth while serving pickup order

Published December 23, 2009

While attempting to serve a civil pickup order by the court system, Jackson County Sheriff's deputies Steve Whritenour and Dennis Blevins ran into a little more than they bargained for Monday night.

Whritenour and Blevins were attempting to serve the pickup order at a residence in Bryant.

"That led to an investigation of the residence," Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said.

During the investigation, the deputies contacted investigator Kevin Miller and deputy Tracy Holman to assist.

“Two bags of meth were located in the residence, along with an item used in manufacturing meth,” Phillips said.

Billy Joe Helton, 29, of Bryant, was arrested and charged with Manufacturing First Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Helton was transported to the Jackson County Jail, where he remained Tuesday morning.
