UGF kicks off campaign Wednesday
Published September 9, 2008
Ruby red will be the color for the day on Wednesday as Jackson County United Givers Fund kicks off its 40th fund-raising campaign.
Since the ruby is the symbol for the 40th anniversary, UGF has adopted it as this year's theme.
The campaign will kick off with a luncheon at the Arc of Jackson County this Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. The program will begin at noon and end at 1 p.m.
John Radavsky will be the featured performer, singing songs with the word ruby in them.
As Chairman of UGF, Debra Borders will preside over the meeting. This year's fund-raising goal of $120,000 will be officially announced, and UGF's first-ever website will be unveiled.
Pat Wildman, Vice President and Campaign Chairman for UGF, will discuss plans for this year's campaign.
UGF raises money to provide to 18 Jackson County charities during its campaign from September to November.
The following local charities receive funding from UGF: American Red Cross, The Arc of Jackson County, Boys and Girls Club-Ben Sanford Center, Bridgeport Housing Authority Children's Program, CASA, Christmas Charities of Jackson County, Community Action Agency, Crisis Services of North Alabama, Jackson County Chapter of Easter Seal Society, Foster and Adoptive Children Program of Jackson County, Friends of the Family of Jackson County, Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama, Greater Alabama Council of Boy Scouts of America, Impact Learning Center, Jackson County 4-H Clubs, Northeast Alabama Health Services, Stevenson Friends of the Library and Tennessee Valley Family Services.
All charities must go through an annual application and screening process to be accepted for funding from UGF.
Ann Kennamer from Impact Learning Center and Beverly Waldrop of CASA will speak about their respective programs and the impact that UGF's funding has provided for them.
