String of burglaries result in arrest

Published November 21, 2009

A Scottsboro man is in jail with a string of burglaries that allegedly took place Wednesday.

Corey Andrew Dunn, 21, of Scottsboro, was first arrested by Scottsboro Police Department on a Public Intoxication charge Thursday. He was later transferred over to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigator Marty May said Dunn is accused of burglaries and thefts occurring at a residence on Crow Mountain, at Hytop town park and at the Crow Mountain Fire Department.

Dunn allegedly broke into a home on County Road 39 and took an assortment of tools, jewelry and knives.

May said Dunn later allegedly cut down the swings at the Hytop town park, then cut down chains at the Crow Mountain Fire Department.

“He was going to pawn the chains,” May said.

Dunn was charged with Burglary Third Degree, Theft Second Degree and two counts of Theft Third Degree.

He remained in the Jackson County Jail Friday morning on a $4,000 bond.
