Carl “C.M.” Dudley

Carl “C.M.” Dudley, 91, of Scottsboro, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Highlands Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 23, at 2 p.m. from Scottsboro Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Roy Venable officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 6 until 9 p.m at Scottsboro Funeral Home.

Mr. Dudley is survived by his children, Spencer (Loretta) Dudley, Janice Maples, Paulette Gigandet and Gary Dudley; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Moses and Willie Mae Dudley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Dudley; son, Mickey Dudley; grandson, Dewayne Hollis; parents, Joe and Annie Dudley; one brother; and eight sisters.

Born February 4, 1918, twin brother to Charles, to Joe Henry and Annie Jenkins Dudley in Jackson County. He married Anna Lou Olinger in 1939 and they had six children. In 1942, he enlisted in the United State Navy, trained in the Great Lakes and served in the South Pacific. After the navy, he worked for the Southern Railroad, TVA and in 1952 worked for Restone Arsenal where he retired in 1977.

Mr. Dudley was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Scottsboro Masonic Lodge, York Rites and Order of Easter Star in Princeton.
