Shooting suspect turns himself in

Published October 13, 2009

A Stevenson man, wanted in connection with shooting four men in Bridgeport, surrendered to a Jackson County sheriff's deputy late Friday night.

Christopher Allen Kerr, 28, is in the Jackson County Jail on $200,000 bond after being charged with four counts of Assault First Degree.

Kerr is accused of shooting four men: Eric Mitchell Bradford, 29, Charles Derrick Hughes, 27, Joshua Daniel Mason, 27 and Steven O. Lawson, 27, all of Stevenson, in the parking lot of Fat Boy's Bar & Grill in Bridgeport at 2 a.m. Friday.

The victims were transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Lawson had surgery Friday to remove his spleen.

Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said Kerr contacted deputy Kevin Smith from Monroe, Miss.

“Smith talked [Kerr] into turning himself in,” Phillips said. “He drove back to Stevenson, and Smith picked him up at 11 p.m.”

Investigators have not released a motive for the shootings.
