United Givers’ Fund T-shirt drive begins

Published August 24, 2009

The United Givers’ Fund of Jackson County is selling T-shirts throughout the months of August and September to bring awareness about the organization before starting its annual fundraising drive in September.

This is United Givers’ 41st year of fundraising for Jackson County charities.

Ellie Smith with the UGF said the annual T-Shirt Project began seven years ago as a forerunner to the annual UGF campaign, as a way for people to become more aware of what the United Givers Fund does for the community—supporting 18 local charities and non-profit programs throughout Jackson County.

Smith said the fundraising goal total for this year is $120,000. Smith said the same goal was set for last year, but the fundraising did not reach that level.

“It was the first time in four or five years that we didn’t meet the goal,” she said.
