Man treated and released after shooting

Published November 11, 2009

A Henagar man was shot Sunday during a domestic dispute at a residence on Alabama Highway 40.

Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said Richard Dwight Ivey, 47, was shot once in the chest with a small caliber gun.

“After being shot, he left the scene and drove to his mother's house in Henagar,” Phillips said.

Phillips said Ivey was later flown to Huntsville Hospital, where he was treated and released.

No arrests have been made. Phillips said the case will be presented to the Jackson County Grand Jury in December.

Jackson County investigators were assisted in the case by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and Henagar Police Department.
