Police make meth bust at local motel

Published October 22, 2008

Scottsboro Police arrested three people Tuesday morning after a week long investigation into meth making.

Robert Edward Stone, 43, of Henagar, Lonnie Brandon Knight, 25, of Woodville and Crystal Dawn Blankenship, 18, of Town Creek are currently in the Jackson County Jail after officers and investigators busted a meth lab at Budget Inn, at the intersection of East Willow Street and Tupelo Pike Tuesday.

"We received information that they had a pretty good sized operation going on," said Sgt. Scott Matthews.

Matthews added investigators confiscated three grams of meth during the arrests.

Stone, Knight and Blankenship were each charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Matthews said a cleanup crew from Birmingham was called to dispose of the meth lab and chemicals present.
