Skyline police chief recognized

Skyline Police Chief Kenneth Strawn recently completed 80 hours of the Law Enforcement Executive program.
“This is a mark of success for Chief Strawn as well as for the city of Skyline for its support of the advancement of law enforcement management principles,” said Belinda Blackburn, director of Continuing Education at Jacksonville State University and UPACE Partner.
Strawn was recognized at the Alabama Association of Chiefs’ of Police Conference in August at Gulf Shores.
Examples of courses included in the program are Update on Harassment, Discrimination and Disability Issues; Leadership; Interpersonal Communication; Police Leadership; Organizational Effectiveness; Selection, Recruitment and Retention; Performance Appraisal; Ethics and the Police Executive and Applied Problem Solving and Decision Making.
The UPACE Partnership is made up of Jacksonville State University, Troy University, Dothan and the University of North Alabama.
Its purpose is to make continuing education programs available for agencies and associations across the state.
Presently, UPACE provides training for the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police, as well as for the Alabama Association of County Administrators, the Alabama Association of County Engineers, the County Revenue Officers Association of Alabama and the Alabama Association of 9-1-1 Districts.
