Scottsboro wins three of four vs. DAR

The Scottsboro seventh-grade boys basketball team found another gear Monday evening against DAR.
Leading just 14-12 at halftime, visiting Scottsboro outscored the Patriots 31-5 in the second half en route to a 45-17 victory.
It was the seventh straight win for the Wildcats, who improved to 9-2.
Tavaras Tolliver led the Wildcats with 18 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Kortez Sanford added eight points and several highlight-reel blocked shots while Donye Richardson pitched in six points and seven rebounds. Spencer Garner also scored six points and Khael Sanford dished out five assists.
Seventh Grade Girls Scottsboro 35, DAR 6 — Sottsboro raced out to a 25-2 halftime advantage and coasted home to improve their record to 4-5.
Mary Margaret Green had 10 points in the first quarter and finished with 12 on the night. Kelly Campbell added 10 points, including six straight to open the third quarter. Ashlynn Green added eight points, and Sara Lovelady and Haley Smith chipped in with three and two points respectively. Campbell led the team with two assists.
Eighth Grade Girls Scottsboro 45, DAR 34 — Down two at the halftime, Scottsboro pulled away in the second half behind hot shooting from Aquanita Branford and McKenzie Edmondson.
Branford finished with 25 points while Edmondson tallied 14. Anna Childress hit a big 3-pointer and Felecia Cottrell had a solid night on the boards. The Wildcats upped their record to 6-5 with the victory.
Eighth Grade Boys DAR 36, Scottsboro 35 — Scottsboro came from four down at the half to open up a six-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but was unable to hold on down the stretch.
The Wildcats' balanced scoring was paced by Harrison Michaels' eight points. John Pouparina and Trey Lewis each scored six, with Lewis grabbing 10 rebounds. Pouparina and Michaels each handed out three assists. Scottsboro's record fell to 6-5 with the loss. — John Reichle
Junior High Girls NSM 52, South Pittsburg 14 — At Higdon, North Sand Mountain improved to 10-0 with a convincing victory over South Pittsburg (Tenn.) on Monday.
NSM led 15-3 after one quarter, 25-4 at halftime and 34-14 entering the fourth.
Hannah Vest scored 19 for NSM while Micayla Bain had 16 and Kennedy George had 10. Kelsea Wilson scored 10 for South Pittsburg.
