BREAKING NEWS: TVA Open House set for 4-8 p.m
Published December 8, 2009
TVA's Open House to discuss its supplemental environmental impact statement on the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 8.
A story in today's Sentinel listed the time as 3-7 p.m. The time listed was based on correspondence sent to key TVA stakeholders and the Chamber of Commerce from TVA offices in Chattanooga, which listed the time as 4-8 p.m. EST.
The Daily Sentinel is sorry for the inconvenience and is happy to set the record straight.
TVA spokesperson John Moulton confirmed by phone this morning that TVA staff will be on hand at the Scottsboro-Goose Pond Civic Center to discuss issues concerning Bellefonte from 4-8 p.m. CST.
"The correct time for the open house today in Scottsboro is 4 – 8 p.m. CST," Moulton said. "At the open house, TVA will receive public comments on the environmental review of alternatives for completing and operating a nuclear reactor at the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant site near Hollywood, Ala. TVA is asking for public comments on three proposed alternatives outlined in a draft supplemental environmental impact statement —completing one of the existing units, building a new reactor or taking no action."
