Hollywood chooses Allen over Duke

Hollywood will get a new mayor while Pisgah kept its incumbent mayor.
Tommy "Slick" Allen defeated Frank "Buster" Duke in the race to replace Ricky Keel as Mayor of Hollywood. Allen, who led the ticket after the Aug. 26 primary, received 165 votes to 149 for Duke. Keel did not seek reelection.
Chris Woods will serve another term as Mayor of Pisgah after defeating another former mayor, Ralph Edmonds, Tuesday. Woods won with 132 votes to 101 for Edmonds.
Warren Jeffery and Cheyenne Whisenant were chosen to serve on the Pisgah Town Council.
Jeffery will take the Place 4 seat after beating Rodney Smith 138-93. Whisenant received 149 votes in her win over Beverly Kenimer who got 93 votes.
Totals from Bridgeport and Stevenson were not available Tuesday evening.
In Bridgeport Leon Dave and Chris Gulley battled for Place 1 on the council while Randall "Rip" Gibson and Bobby Seabolt were the candidates in the race for Place 4.
Stevenson voters were to decide between Clyde Jackson and Michael Matthews in the race for Place 3 on the council.
