Alma Jeanette Bratcher McCarver
Alma Jeanette Bratcher McCarver, 78, of South Pittsburg, Tenn., died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in a local nursing home.
The daughter of the late David Harrison and Anna Samples Bratcher, she was of the Baptist faith, loved roses, the color purple, candles and gave to many charitable organizations including Boys Town and veterans organizations.
She is survived by her son, Albert David Venable of New Orleans, LA; her nieces, Elaine McCreary of South Pittsburg and Anna Lou Merciers of Powells Crossroads, TN; her sister, Nona (Warren) Friend of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law, Rosie Bratcher of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Hester Venable, Albert “Bo Bo” Venable, Jennifer McIntire, Chad Venable, Travis Venable, Charlie Venable, Pete Venable, Kenny Elwood, David Elwood, Tiffany Smith and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Nolan Bratcher, William Lonnie Bratcher, Harrison E. Bratcher; sisters, Martha Bratcher Case, Ruby Leffingwell, Margaret Jo Holloway; son, Cecil Wayne Venable; granddaughter, Carrie Ann Venable and great-granddaughter, Mashonda Venable.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 29, at 1 p.m. CDT with Reverend Jerry Merciers officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tenn.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, April 29, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. CDT at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
