THURSDAY, NOV. 26

• Scottsboro Solid Waste Department will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. Routes normally run on Thursday will be picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Please have all cans and recyclables out by 6 a.m. as usual.

• The Jackson County Solid Waste Department will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 for the Thanksgiving holidays. Thursday routes will be picked up on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Friday routes will be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

• The Huntsville Botanical Garden becomes a light extravaganza with its annual holiday of lights nightly through January 2, 2010. Admission is $15 per car with a $1 discount for donated canned food, paper products, pet food, children's book, warm coat or Toys for Tots). FRIDAY, NOV. 27

• Alabama Constitution Village in Huntsville turns its historical setting into a magical holiday attraction with nightly snowfalls, live reindeer and Santa and his elves from 5-9 p.m. nightly through Dec. 23. • The city of Arab will offer its annual dazzling display of lights when more than 2 million lights are lit in Arab City Park at 6 p.m. Nightly admission if free with special entertainment and events scheduled each Friday through December. SATURDAY, NOV. 28

•Turkey Shoot every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Friendship Lodge on John T. Reid Parkway, Hwy 72.

• Annual Dudley Reunion today from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Western Sizzlin in Scottsboro. All family and friends of Joe and Annie Dudley are invited to attend. No formal invitations will be sent. • The North Alabama Railroad Museum "Santa Train" will make its annual holiday excursions on Nov. 28 and Dec. 5,6 and 12. Seating is limited for each of the 35 minuted train rides on the fully decorated train. Santa Claus visits with children and hands out gifts. The fare is $12 for all persons. Reservations are required and can be obtained by calling 256-851-6276 on Wednesday or Saturday mornings.

TUESDAY, DEC. 1

• Highlands Foundation will host its Lights of Love celebration at Highlands Medical Center.

FRIDAY, DEC. 4

• The first annual Bowling Tournament for the Ben Sanford Unit will be held at 6 p.m. at Victory Lanes. Have a ball while you help the kids of Jackson County. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Games, Best Team, most gutter balls and all kinds of fun stuff. Cost is $200 per four-man team, includes two games, shoes and a commemorative T-shirt. SATURDAY, DEC. 5

• Turkey Shoot every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Friendship Lodge on John T. Reid Parkway, Hwy 72.

• The annual Woodville Christmas Parade will be held at 11:30 a.m.

• Citizens United for a Better Bridgeport will hold its 21st annual Christmas Parade at 11:30 a.m. If you have any questions or to enter the parade call Doris Janney at 256-437-8615 or Dot McDonald at 256-495-2502.

• Bryant Neighborhood Watch hosting Country Style Breakfast 7:30-10:30 a.m. Sausage, Ham, Eggs, Biscuits, Gravy. $5 with donations welcome.

• The Stevenson Christmas Parade will be held downtown beginning at 6 p.m.

• The town of Paint Rock is hosting a potluck Christmas dinner at the Senior Center Building beginning at 5:30 p.m. The town will provide turkey and ham, plates, utensils, napkins, drinks and dressing. Everyone in the Paint Rock area is invited to bring a favorite dish and or dessert and enjoy the fun. A Christmas tree lighting ceremony will also be held and everyone is invited to contribute an ornament in honor or memory of someone special. • The Bridgeport Lions Club will host a pancake breakfast and its annual Truck Giveaway at the Lions Building beginning at 9 a.m. Tickets to the pancake breakfast are $5 each. Tickets for the truck giveaway are $50 each with only 400 being sold. Those buying a ticket on the truck giveaway will also be eligible for 45 other prizes valued at $50 or more. • First United Methodist Church women will host a Christmas Cookie Walk from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cookies will be sold in styrofoam containers of varying sizes. Prices are $3, $5 and $8. All profits go to missions projects of the church. For more information call Betty Plymale at 259-6734.

The theme is "Jackson County Christmas," Lineup begins at 4:30 p.m. in front of Collins Elementary School. Deadline for entrants is Nov. 30. TUESDAY, DEC. 8

• The meeting of the cancer support group will begin at 5:15 p.m. This meeting will be a Christmas party at the home of Joyce Shelton. Each person is to bring an Christmas ornament for dirty Santa. Reservations must be made by calling MMI Breast Center at 256-574-2883.

SATURDAY, DEC. 12

• The town of Section will host its annual Christmas Parade at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for best entry and runner-up. A reception will be held immediately after the parade at Section Town Hall with refreshments provided. Santa Claus will be available to visit with the children. • The town of Skyline will hold its annual Christmas Parade at 1 p.m.

• Russell Cave Winter Celebration begins at 3 p.m.
