Kindergarten Registration for the 2008-2009 school year will be held at all Jackson County Schools today from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. You must bring child's birth certificate, child's social security card and child's immunization blue slip.

You are invited to Hospice of Marshall County’s 7th Annual Spring Fundraiser, Moonlight ‘n’ Magnolias, featuring The Downtown Horns. The event will be held at the Guntersville Senior Center today. Tickets are $100 (admits two). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For your convenience, you may purchase your ticket in advance at the HMC office or by charging on your Visa or MasterCard by calling 891-7724. Proceeds from this exciting event will benefit Hospice of Marshall County and Shepherd’s Cove. Jackson County Senior Center will have Scrapbooking class from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (bring pictures, sack lunch and drink).

Bridgeport Lions Club Catfish Dinner and Silent Auction will be from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at the Lions Club Building for a $5 donation.

Jackson County (Scottsboro) High School Class Of ‘57 annual luncheon at Mud Creek Fishing Camp Restaurant beginning at 10 a.m. Eat around noon. All members of the class in any year, graduates and non-graduates, are urged to attend. Spouses and guests are welcome. Also, friends and members from other class years and their spouses/guests are invited. Attendees will pay their own tab at the restaurant. 11th Flag Retirement Ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at the Jackson County Fairgrounds with Master of Ceremony, Marshall Stout. Special guest speaker Councilman Matthew Hodges. All boy scout troops, cub packs, girls scouts, military and the public are invited.

The Jackson County Community Clean up truck will be in Hollywood at the Old Fire Hall from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. No tires, paint, batteries, household trash or oil accepted.

Meet the Candidates political rally will beat Paint Rock community Center. Eat at 5 p.m. and speaking at 6 p.m.

Speaking of Women's Health Community Event will be from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Wal-Mart. Any business interested in setting up a booth please contact Dorothy Blevins or Sandi Johnson at 574-1803.

The North Sand Mountain Farmers’ Market in Sylvania has it's Grand Opening from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come, meet the local farmers enjoy early tomatoes, greens and more.Get your planting starts. Local music and a pancake breakfast will be part of the fun. The Market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Growers interested in selling or for more information please call 256-657-7247.

Austell Cemetery decoration will be held. A Covered dish lunch will be served beginning at noon.

MONDAY, MAY 5

Jackson County Senior Center will have exercise at 9 a.m. (no charge), bingo at 1 p.m, body recall at 3:30 p.m. and yoga at 5:15 p.m.

There will be a meeting of the Scottsboro Band Boosters at 6:30 p.m. in the band room. Final details for the band banquet will be discussed. Please plan to attend.

TUESDAY, MAY 6

AARP will be meeting at 3 p.m. at the Jackson County Senior Center. Dexter Cordes pharmacist of Big C Drugstore will be speaking. The Senior Center is on Rita Williams Drive in Scottsboro.

Jackson County Senior Center will have yoga at 7:45 a.m., exercise at 9 a.m. (no charge), intermediate line dance class at 10 a.m., beginner line dance class at 11 a.m., AARP meeting at 3 p.m.

Jackson County Education Association will have their Annual Teacher Banquet including the ESP to be held on National Teacher's Day at 5:30 p.m. at Mud Creek Restaurant. All Jackson County personnel are invited to attend and help honor the retiring this year.

Jackson County Senior Center will have bridge from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., cards and board games from 12:15 until 3:15 p.m. and body recall at 3:30 p.m.

Heartlite Hospice will have a Bereavement Meeting on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Scottsboro office on West Charlotte Street, across from Broad Street Church of Christ. This meeting is open to anyone who has lost a loved one due to illness or sudden death. For more information call 259-1754.

Jackson County Community Clean up truck will be in Macedonia at the Macedonia Fire Department from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. No tires, paint, batteries, household trash or oil accepted.

Relatives and friends that have family members at Shelton Cemetery will have cemetery cleanup at 8 a.m. Donations for upkeep will be accepted also. Send the to Gerald Wininger at 1901 C.R. 342 Fackler, AL 35772.

Jackson County Democrat Picnic will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. at Jackson County Park. There will be BBQ and hot dogs, live music and door prizes. Everything is free. Guest Speakers will be Sen. Parker Griffith and Ron Sparks, Ag Commissioner. Live music will be provided by Brothers & Others, Twin Mountain Bluegrass, River Ramblers and more. Bring your lawn chairs.

Scottsboro Lodge Country Ham Breakfast will be the second Saturday of every month for $5. Country ham and all the trimmings. from 7 until 9 p.m. sponsored by Piggly Wiggly, Floyd Hambrick Jr., and Joey Vaughn.

The Annual Decoration Day Celebration at Whitehall Cemetery in the Valley Head-Hammondville-Ft. Payne, Ala. community will be held. All friends and supporters of Whithall Cemetery are invited. Activities include Flower Decoration at 10 a.m.; Decoration Service at 11 a.m. and dinner on the grounds afterwards. There's plenty to eat and all Whithall friends are encouraged to stay for dinner. Everyone please remember your lawn chairs of folding chairs, and bring some extra ones if you can.

Decoration day at Pleasant View Cemetery near Dutton will be held. Everyone interested in encouraged to attend and support the Perpetual Care Program You donations are appreciated and needed.

Jackson County Catfish Festival will be at Jackson County Park. There will be free fun for kids from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. catfish fishing for children ages 3-12 from 8 until 11 a.m., a car/truck/motorcycle show, and catfish dinner for $7 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Jackson County Shriners club Catfish Fry will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. rain or shine in conjunction with the Jackson County Catfish Festival at Jackson County Park. Catfish dinner is $7 per person. Visit scottsborosbc.com for more information.

The Swearengin Fire Dept. will have their annual Bar-B-Que at the Swearenging Community Center. They are pre-selling whole Boston Butts for $25.00 till May 1st. Veteran's Celebration presented by Mountain Lakes Behavioral Healthcare will be at Guntersville Senior Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Live entertainment, free food and drinks and activities for the kids. Bring your own lawn chairs.

Memorial Day Service will be hled today at 11 a.m. at Collins School Auditorium. This will honor our deceased veterans and their families. Anyone wanting to be a part of our community choir for that service, dress casual. We will sing "America" and "America The Beautiful" and "The National Anthem". There will be no rehearsal and the music will be there for you. Meet backstage at 10:15 if you want to sing.

American Legion Post 30 and American Legion Auxiliary will have our
